The Groundwater Engineering Research Centre organize a postgraduate course entitled: Protection of groundwater resources

Context

Groundwater is an important source of water for industrial and residential activities. Landfill, contaminated industrial sites, mines and oil exploitation zones are some of the severe problems related to groundwater protection activities. The interaction of groundwater with infrastructure can produce aquifer contamination and a hazard during infrastructure development and operation. These problems can be solved only through the correct management of groundwater based on current knowledge and techniques. A good understanding is required of the theoretical and practical aspects of groundwater flow and of physical, chemical, and biological processes that govern contaminant transport.

Objectives

  • Provide to students a solid theoretical basis in the fields of groundwater hydraulics, geology, biology, chemistry
  • Develop competences in analyzing qualitative and quantitative hydrogeological data
  • Train students in solving complex hydrogeological problems using analytical and numerical methods
  • Present the newest techniques for groundwater quality remediation
  • Develop skills of current water resources management on the basis of the newest technologies

Graduation document: Graduation Certificate issued by the Technical University of Civil Engineering - Bucharest.

The course is organized in six modules covering both theoretical and practical aspects.
